The multi-model AI chat

The AI panel on the new tab is a chat workspace that runs on your own provider accounts. It’s genuinely different from most AI extensions: InTab does not put your prompts through its own servers here.

How it connects

The chat proxies your existing, logged-in browser sessions for:

  • ChatGPT (OpenAI)
  • Claude (Anthropic)
  • Gemini (Google)
  • Perplexity

There are no API keys. InTab checks whether you’re signed in to each provider in the browser and streams through that provider’s own web chat. If you’re not signed in, it opens the provider’s login page and resends your message afterward. Because it uses your own accounts, your usage counts against those accounts, not against InTab’s AI limits.

Compare models side by side

Turn on more than one model to run the same prompt in parallel and compare answers in resizable panels. Pick Auto (the provider’s current model with a fallback) or choose specific versions.

Bring in context with @

Type @ to pull context into your prompt: open tabs, saved tab groups, bookmarks, reading list, history, downloads, text highlights, and past chats. You can also attach images, PDFs, and files for multimodal questions, quote snippets, and reuse prompt templates.

The smart @ search across your data draws from your daily AI search allowance (higher on Pro and Max); basic mentions never count against it and work on any plan.

Manage conversations

Conversations are saved with titles, search, rename, and sort. You can regenerate, edit a message (with versions), stop or queue a reply mid-stream, and summarize a whole conversation. Interrupted streams recover on reload.

  • Cloud sync of chat history across devices is Pro/Max only. On free/legacy, chats stay on the current device (older image data is trimmed to save space).

Privacy

Prompts, attachments, and any context you @-mention go directly to whichever providers you have active through your browser session - not to InTab. See Where your AI data goes.
