Cookie Policy
This policy explains how InTab (the Chrome extension and the intab.io website) uses cookies and similar technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What we use, and why
On intab.io (this website)
- Strictly necessary cookies - let you sign in, stay signed in, and use account features (billing, settings). Without these the site doesn’t work. We don’t ask for consent to set them because no functional consent regime requires it.
- Authentication cookies - set by Better Auth (our auth library) and our own backend at intab.io. Same-site, HTTP-only, secure.
- Anonymous analytics - Google Analytics 4 and PostHog, on by default. You can turn them off from Options → General → Privacy in the extension or with the analytics & advertising controls below this policy.
- Advertising & attribution - intab.io runs conversion measurement for the ad platforms we advertise on: Google Ads, Meta (Facebook), Microsoft Advertising, X (Twitter) Ads, TikTok, Snapchat, Pinterest, Reddit, and Quora. Their measurement scripts run on this website and set advertising/attribution cookies (for example
_fbp,_uetvid,_ttp, and our own first-partyintab_*click-id cookies) so we can tell which ads lead to installs and purchases. After a purchase or sign-up we may also send these platforms hashed conversion identifiers (such as a hashed email) server-side for the same purpose. The controls below this policy stop these events from your browser too.
These advertising tags run only on the intab.io website - the extension itself never loads ad networks or shares your browsing with them.
Inside the extension
The extension itself does not set cookies on web pages you visit. It uses:
chrome.storage.localandchrome.storage.sessionfor preferences and runtime state.- The Chrome
cookiesAPI in two narrow cases:- Read our own session cookie on intab.io / zoy.io to keep the extension and the web app signed in to the same account.
- Set a single
CONSENTcookie on youtube.com so YouTube’s transcript endpoint serves transcripts when you ask InTab to summarize a video. This cookie matches what YouTube sets itself for users in consent regions.
We never read cookies from third-party websites for any other purpose.
2. How long cookies last
- Strictly necessary / authentication cookies: typically up to 30 days (rolling session refresh).
- Analytics cookies: typically 13 months, in line with GA4 defaults.
- Advertising / attribution cookies: typically 90 days to 13 months depending on the network.
3. How to control cookies
- In the extension: Options → General → Privacy → toggle analytics off. We clear the analytics ID immediately.
- On this website: use the analytics controls below this policy. The change takes effect immediately.
- In your browser: clear cookies for intab.io / zoy.io at any time. You can also block all cookies for our domain in Chrome’s site settings - note that this will sign you out and disable account features.
- For Google Analytics specifically you can also install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Add-on.
4. Changes
We may update this policy if we add or remove a service that uses cookies. The “Last updated” date at the top will change accordingly. Material changes are announced in the extension’s “What’s new” panel.
