AI usage limits explained
InTab’s AI features that run on InTab’s backend - the selection popover, grammar, YouTube summaries, dictation, and read-aloud - have usage limits. (The multi-model AI chat is separate: it runs on your own provider accounts and doesn’t count against these.)
Free vs. paid
- Free and Legacy plans get a fast, smaller model and modest daily allowances, plus a claimable top-up bonus when you run low.
- Pro and Max get the flagship “smart” model and much higher daily limits.
Approximate daily allowances (rolling limits also apply):

These numbers can change as we tune fair-use; the live meters in Settings → Account always show what’s left and when it resets.
Pro-only AI features
A few things are gated to paid plans entirely:
- AI suggested questions on selected text,
- AI tab clustering (free falls back to grouping by website),
- Smart Screenshots and AI screenshot naming,
- the YouTube server transcript fallback, and
- cloud sync of chat history.
Smart @ search in chat isn’t paid-only - it works on every plan, with its own free/Legacy daily allowance that Pro and Max raise like everything else above.
Watching your usage
Open Settings → Account for per-feature meters with a live reset countdown. Free users can claim a bonus refill when a meter runs out; paid users see “X left today.” To lift the limits, see Free, Pro, Max & Lifetime.
